In a time where major fashion companies are mass producing ‘vintage like pieces’ and thrift inspired looks for profit, versus actually reconstructing vintage pieces, those fashion enthusiasts’ who aren’t fooled are left unfulfilled. They seek designers and curators who truly appreciate what a vintage piece can be, and are able to recreate the art while allowing the piece to maintain it’s originality. Sami Miró is fashionably woke, and she is giving the consumers of the vintage industry exactly what they need.
Teaming up with designer, and good friend Phlemuns, vintage curator Sami Miró brought to life the “Z bomber” after actor (and boyfriend) Zac Efron asked her to style him for the MTV Music Awards. She recently told Cosmopolitan, “Zac [Efron] asked me to style him for the MTV Movie Awards and so I started kind of thinking about what I wanted his look to be and in doing so, I started sketching and designing some things and said “Hey, actually I think I should design something for you and this is my idea,” and he loved it. It was essentially the piece that he ended up wearing, which was all vintage denims of different kinds all patched together, some frayed, some not. I’m definitely not a master sewer by any means so I was trying to think who I could have actually construct it for me, and there’s a designer who I admire, who I have actually met a few years back when he first started, his name is Phlemuns and he’s a really incredible designer, he’s gonna blow up soon, I know, and he does a lot of work with recycled denim.”
Now with this new found inspiration, Sami has launched her very first line of clothing and accessories including bodysuits, jackets and chokers, that are reconstructed with vintage jean fabrics and are now available on her website SAMI MIRO VINTAGE.
You can only shop the line for a limited time, so do it now, but we can look forward to more vintage pieces from Sami very soon.
